When I lived in Papua New Guinea the women there used to make their own baby slings and they were called "Billums". Mind you, these Billums carried everything ~ Children, pigs, firewood, vegetables ~ and often at the same time! Now that was an experience that I was very fortunate to have experienced. I really, seriously liked the people of PNG.
Isn't it funny? These women have used Billums for centuries, and us westerners are only now realising just how practical they really are!
Oh well, better late than never :-)
Warmly,
Jan
